I get why people are pressed but she was even adopted in the first place to keep the mother's mental stability. The mother was literally feeding her medicine that couldve killed her bc the mother used her as a replacement for her dead daughter. Yes, she was adopted but that's completely out of the picture if the family (other than cabel) sees otherwise AND THEY ARE IN NO WAY RELATED AT ALL. GET OVER IT PEOPLE
The reason why they adopted her, along with the events that unfolded is SO important for this plotline in particular: you know right away NO ONE but the parents accept and need Hari's presence in the family. The other kids didn't see her as a sibling, not even once. And the only reason Hari stayed, was because compared to living on the streets it's a better deal (that and the fact that she had memories, otherwise she might have just run).
My mind always goes back to that scene in particular where Hari got lost and Eugene, for a minute there, decided to leave her and go back to his parents (hence, abandon her) because SHE WAS NOTHING BUT A STRANGER TO HIM! A stranger who kept receiving the love of HIS parents, who wasn't HIS sibling nor his FAMILY. And right after that, the parents die, the only beings who TRULY accepted Hari.
What a rollercoaster it's been, but indeed, they're not related in any single way, they didn't grow up together, nor have they ever seen each other as family. So, why are people so pressed about it?
I see this in the comments A LOT, like every two comments say the exact same thing "Hari and Eugene were literally raised together" and... no? Not at all?
I'll refresh your memories: Hari entered the household one year before the parents' accident. During that year, she struggled to be accepted as part of the family. Particularly, Eugene and Hari's ongoing struggle was quite evident. Eugene has never seen Hari as a sister, that isn't to say he didn't see her as part of the family (which is two different things). Hari has past life memories but even then... she never felt part of the family nor she had any ties to the boys AT ALL.
Now, right after the parents' death, Hari and the other two were taken to another family. They grew up with Louise and Johan until they were allowed back... which was YEARS! At this point, even if Hari is officially adopted, I'm inclined to say she's more of a sister to Louise and Johan than she is to Eugene who lived alone until now... I understand why she wouldn't see Johan in a romantic light.
This isn't to defend Hari and Eugene's feelings, but to make people advocating that 'it's wrong, it's incest' or else... understand that isn't the case whatsoever. Did we even read the same story?
Conclusion: They didn't grow up together. Hari keeps the tradition and calls him 'brother', but it's evident they have never seen each other as siblings. Eugene lived apart from her for most of her life too, practical strangers (until they came back home and both are now grown-ups of good age who understand things better). I'm happy if they're happy, they deserve happiness!
