That part where she didn’t want to give up that affection the Emperor has for her seemed so realistic too. If Lyn didn’t care at all, she would’ve put a stop to the whole thing
Its the only thing that makes sense tbh. I dont necessarily think Lyn is a bad person as she genuinely cares for both the Empress and the Emperor but she is powerless when it comes to political wars which explains why she would cozy up with the both of them. She cant return the Emperor’s love but she cares for the Empress as a friend and she’s trying her best to get the two together with her as a median (and also safe from any more harm from the other consorts) but to also give up the affection of the Emperor that she have for so long is giving herself some withdrawal issues i think.
But like i said, its only my opinion and idk how true this is lol. She might even be a bad person in general who knows

I agree with you on that.. I had similar thoughts but I think maybe she didn't stop her bitch maid and the betraying maid was probably because bitchy maid Saran works for her father and might transfer information to him also and the betraying maid works for Saran so maybe that's why. (=・ω・=) maybe that's why she can't stop them and she's angry from such behavior like she seems upset that the betraying maid comes to her when she supposed to stay at the empress side serving her and also despise Saran for behaving such way even her other actions she did before she acts upon them without even Lyn asking for it so she can't stop her when she doesn't completely serve her because she can't control her.. Like if she ask her to stop then she will go to her father or that guy who works under her father in that side of faction and then they plan of another assassination against the empress. So I think the mastermind of the assassination is that guy who Saran went to before and she works for him. All in all Saran is out of control and she does what she wants and just want Lyn to be more favored to the point she might want her to be empress and she gets more power as a higher maid. With all her actions show she seeks power because if she didn't then she would have just satisfied Lady Lyn and be by her side and not be manipulative and transfer information for more assassination attempts be at the empress.
But of course returning back to Lyn she have a feeling of jealousy and inferiority in someway when the emperor giving attention to the empress but I think she probably jealous from them both but more jealous at the emperor because she like the empress but little bit jealous at the empress because she was given affection and attention by the emperor and she couldn't get it from her surroundings but you can see her glow when the empress interact with her that is all swooning and happy or she feel affectionate to her as a sister. Whether she loves the empress or like her as a sister and then aim for the emperor love later on then it would tell what's her true motive. All in all it kind of pisses me off like she should just show it on whoever she likes more because if she isn't stopping her maid and knew the assassination plans were from her maid and that guy from her father side faction then it would show what a bitch she is but if she doesn't know about it and clueless then it would return what I said that she doesn't say anything or stop those maids because they move around out of her control and communicate with that guy who have control somehow in the palace and can do things that she wouldn't favor of. As I see her character it seems she is like bit like a puppet because she was pressured to be with the emperor in the beginning and she can't have control or do much in the palace because the other concubines have control and got strong characters and that guy supporting her father and her so he does things she don't support and her maid does things her way and Lady Lyn just can't but go on with the flow and she is powerless. This is only my opinion but i genuinely think Lynn is in the middle with her feelings right now. She truly admired the Empress since she was the first person who showed her kindness and even protected her to the point that she injured herself (when she grabbed the assassin’s sword to stop it). On the other hand, she likes the Emperor but more likely a familial love since she said it herself - she knows the Emperor when he was still in diapers. Even if I am put in that situation, i wouldn’t see anyone as love interest if ive seen them since they were a baby.
When Lynn had said that she wanted the Empress to win the Emperor’s affection, she means it as a friend and also as a security for herself. By any means, she is a commoner and she cant fight the other consorts with only the Emperor’s favor. She will still get bullied. But if the Emperor started to favor the Empress more, the ACTUAL legal wife, who would dare to raise a hand on her? Cozying up to the Empress might save her from even more bullying if you put it in that perspective. If she truly have that mindset, then her expressions in the recent chapter would make sense.
In my understanding, she understood the actions the Empress took, even if it means that she will also be investigated for her own injury. Lyn looked at her servants (especially that bitch that i forgot the name of) and knew this was necessary especially if they are taking actions without telling her. She wanted to make the Empress earn the Emperor’s favor so this was understandable.
However, i think Lyn had gotten used to being the recipient of the Emperor’s favor that now that he is paying more attention to the Empress and even going so far as to “embrace” her as his reward for her hard work, Lyn is having a hard time to let go of that. If you think about it, when a person received so much and then suddenly not being gifted anymore, anyone would feel at a loss and even going so far as to get the attention back. This is narcissism at its best and i think Lyn is that unconsciously. She wanted attention whether she admits it or not.
And thats why i think she’s having a crisis in her head right now. She wanted her friend, the Empress to have the Emperor’s attention but she also dont want to lose the Emperor’s attention so she isn’t stopping her servants to spy to the Empress.
