LOL amen,. There was another part of the discussion about the exec order about trans in women's sports. Levanag said: if women are forced to participate against men, I believe that there should be some kind of strength ranking system. I fully believe that women are capable of becoming as strong as men, they just need to put in extra effort due to biology. With a strength ranking system, people in matches would be chosen based on their physical ability. It would allow a more even matchup, and I'm sure that most female athletes would see this as fair.
open to discussion
I'm not letting that go unopposed. Sorry, and trying to be nice as I can to Leavanang's side. Pluss sorry you've got to hear it from a guy, but maybe women aren't as knowledgeable about combat sports. don't know. I do know that no matter how physically strong one woman is capable of becoming, the competition is still completely unfair. Women don't have the lung capacity, the larger bones, the longer reach, the longer stride, the larger heart, and blood vessels. male to female trans women take estrogen, which strengthens already larger, denser bones. All this holds true even after the trans man has had long term female hormone treatments. Forcing women onto an uneven playing field will lead to injury, even death, and the end of all the gains in women's sports in the past 20 years. Already a biological man in the UFC World Masters Title bou, fought a woman who was of the same weight class. The woman sustained critical injuries including a concussion and a broken skull. If that doesn't make you cringe, I don't know what will. Trans women/biological men don't belong in women's athletics
That's why it wouldn't be "women's athletics." It would be completely co-ed. It would take muscle mass, weight, general strength, as well as testosterone and estrogen levels into account. An athlete would be able to decline any match they felt was unfair or that you felt could cause injury to them. I see nothing wrong if the way matches are chosen is with people in the 5 spaces above or below them.
I wanted to reply to this when you said: Leavanag, you said, "I only meant that public sentiment should come before we include all genders in something like a shelter for rape and abuse. I apologize if it came across differently. One of my ex-boyfriends attempted to rape me. If he had succeeded, I would have been even more traumatized from it than I am now. This is a topic I am quite passionate about."
Me: I'm glad that we just misunderstood each other. I had a feeling that was the case so I didn't want to push it with disagreeing about it too much. I'm glad we continued discussing. I'm glad the other commenters were nice about being okay with it, too.
I don't get why Trans would even want to go against women they know they can slaughter. Yet they do. All I hear is trans breaking women's records in running, cycling. It's so obviously unfair. They really are making my argument for me by performing these ridiculously stupendous wins over women. making it so obvious that the game is fixed in their favor. I think we should keep trans out of women's sports. They don't need to be competing. It's never going to be a good time or enjoyable. People on the side are always going to be outraged about it. They'll turn public favor against them. It's happening all over. Parents and sports fans are raging about it. Trans stealing valuable scholarship money from young women who never saw this trans stuff coming.
I definitely agree with you on that. That's why every athlete would have the right to decline any match. People have begun to forget that sports are not simply for the enjoyment of spectators, they are also for the enjoyment of the athletes. The major concern of the public should be "Is this fun for the athletes?" not "Is this fun to watch?" I find it disgusting how much people enjoy gore in sporting events.
This may not make much sense, but trans people, especially trans-women, spend most of their lives attempting to escape from the gender they were born with. Most trans-women are not going against cis-women because they want to crush records or hurt people. They want to participate in sports with people of their gender. In their eyes, they are women, not trans-women. I was AFAB (assigned female at birth) and I still identify as partially female at all times. In sports like running and swimming, I much prefer to go against women. On the other hand, when I started learning Ju-jitsu, I preferred to grapple with men instead.
Also, feel free to call me Levy from here. It's a bit shorter to type. Only if you'd like, of course.
a discusion was abruptly cut off when a person didn't like something someone said. Levanag and I had started a discussion, which I would like to resume. Just before we were cut off, Levang said, "If you would like, I am completely open to having this discussion with you."
Super Condensed: Levanag's current comment: There are some issues that need to be addressed before things like women specific shelters for survivors of rape and abuse. Public sentiment needs to come first.
My response: I disagree. The needs of the individual victims need to be remedied first, not public sentiment.
(this related to the manga but I don't remember the connection now lol)
