I just binge read all of this and I am appalled how some people can say shit like Shahi and Derek's ending was so sad and they wanted better for them. Like Shahi on his own, yeah. But together? Their relationship? Derek literally raped Shahi as a child and continued to do so for years. I don't understand how the author could turn Shahi's feelings into love. Throughout the entire story up until the end he acted as though Derek's actions to him we're constantly a burden to him. And you can't claim their story to be some narrative on unhealthy love because the ending never treats their relationship as something wrong, only ever something good with a tragic end. Honestly the ending for the two just ruined the entire story for me. I'd wanna go back and re-read it but knowing the ending for those two it makes me sick and I don't wanna touch the physical copies I have. Every single ending was good expect for that and I'm pissed. I wish I could just go back in time when I never read this or somehow change the ending. Have Prince Derek still die or something and give Shahi a kid and/or even let him turn into a woman if he wanted that. But what we got was just fucking terrible.
