So no he wasn’t lying to the son, he most likely knows his moms dead but his dad actually did love the fl, he knew she wasn’t the real daughter but he fell in love with who he really was even though the fl herself and everyone else didn’t know, it’s because he pretended to hate her that no one knew he really loved her.
And He only pretends to hate her because he knows, if it gets out that she isn’t, she’ll be in danger from riots and stuff protesting against her due to not being of noble blood.

After the real daughter murders the fl, she takes the baby and goes to the ml if I’m correct and he knows it’s not his wife right away, he finds out she killed her and then he kills her as revenge u guess (from my memories that is what happened).
then he takes his son and raises him while mourning the fl. From my knowledge he doesn’t remarry or anything because he only loves her. (´°ω°｀)
In case you’re wondering, no his first marriage with the other girl wasn’t because they loved each other, if you haven’t read about this yet, they only got married because of the girls father being someone important I think, this making a marriage of convince/ politician marriage.
They never loved each other as a couple, maybe as good friends at most but he only loved the fl ╰(*´︶`*)╯
