probably.... he has learned through lizzie that the role of empress is an enormous role to fill so now that he is in the past he wants to know if his mother is the same as lizzie. Considering when he came back he honesty didn't think he could or had the right to give her the happiness she deserves. It was already too late to break off the engagement and especially with the way that the trash parents treat her. he is not sure if it was because of the role of empress doomed her to unhappiness or thing just in general.
I think when he gets the answer back of whether his mother could actually find happiness in her role of empress would make his choices a lot more firmer in regards of his goal to make lizzie happy.
