can i ask why you think this isn't a shoujo manga? because from my understanding
shoujo is not a genre at all but a demographic and it means mangas that are written (mostly) by women and whose target audience is young women. so what exactly makes this manga a historical shounen?

this one IS a shoujo manga actually. just like the sequel and the side stories are shoujo too. Except for Utakata ni Warau which is classified as seinen.

I don't think this is a shojo at all this is historical shounen right?! A lot of bood and people died in the series with serious actions plus phychopath characters n i can't stop reading
