i agree. i understand she’s been left in the dark and everyone around her is keeping secrets from her. BUT JESUS- SOMEONE HELP THIS CHILD she’s being manipulated left and right
she's sheltered. it's kinda common
it's hard when she's literally been used since she was a baby so she has no actual willpower or awareness to stop being "manipulated" because she wasn't taught anything else but to be obedient. and that's a huge bump in mental growth.
But it's not like she doesn't understand the situation, she just chooses to believe the ones who are CLEARLY manipulating her. She is always doubting and coming to conclusions without any type of base. For short, she just like and believe the ones who sweet talk her and stuff like that.
its not "CLEARLY manipulating". to you who's reading the story, it may be. to athy who knows anastasius is evil, it is. but to jeanette who wasnt taught anything but to trust alpheus household, it isnt. how do you expect someone basically brought up to be nothing but a tool for power to know what is right and wrong? she obeys dule alpheus because thats all she ever knew - because hes the man who raised her. she defends anastasius because for the first time in her life she actually has a family - because hes her father. be frustrated and angry that shes so easily to manipulate, but understand that in her perspective, nothing is wrong. because she never saw it herself, unlike athy. because she grew up that way - and reeducating yourself cannot be done in a day. wonder why sheltered children act spoiled and entitled? because thats all they ever knew. what choice do they have but to act on the only thing they were taught?
Can someome lend some intelligence to Jeanette? Like, child. Why are you so easy to manipulate? I understand she is a child, but at her age she should have a perception of people and how to avoid being manipulated.
