sorry not a pet peeve but just wanted to explain more on b and v sounds and the reason for your pet peeve lol.
v sounds do not exist in Korean and there isn't really a difference between B's and V's. For example: w/ the name Victoria, you'd write it as 빅토리아 [biktoria], changing the V sound to B sound. Same w/ 이벨리나 [Ibellina] is Evelina in English.
Since many foreign names are translated in korean, many translators usually write the names how it would be pronounced in korean.
Yeah, ik. It's like L and R with Japanese. They pick English names, though, so it'd make more sense to translate them as the names they are. Makes no sense otherwise and it just makes everything look weird, especially when you have other names normally translated. Like you got a name like Arwin and then you've got Ibelyn in there. It doesn't make any sense.
What's your manga pet peeve? For me it's when translators get Bs and Vs confused. I really don't get why it's that difficult.
Duke's Maid: Ibee-->Evie
Miss Not-So-Sidekick: Ibelyn-->Evelyn
I Saved the Cursed Duke: Edelbais-->Edelvais
idk, you'd think that the obviously nonexistent names would clue them in that they picked the wrong letter lol.
