He literally harassed a child, bullied him that caused him to have self esteem issues. His grudge should have been towards his family, not Tomoe. The family is the one who hurt him and Takashi. He is a selfish pos, and a redemption arc is not changing that.
Was he selfish? Absolutely. Did he disregard him and never spoke to him kindly at all? Yes(which is different from harassment). Does that make what he did ok? No but at the end of the day the little brother telling on them caused the trauma for the older brother, that doesn’t change that fact; just because he didn’t mean it. Trauma doesn’t work that way. The brothers having a heart to heart doesn’t automatically mean “redemption”, it would be a step towards actual healing for both parties.
We definitely need a sequel with the older, they deserve happiness and I hope that sequel includes the brother having a real heart to heart. I know some people think they(older brother & uke) don’t deserve happiness but they do, what they went through was extremely f**ked up. The brother’s anger/ grudge is very reasonable. He witnessed his father beaten, tortured, and branded(for life like a slave) his lover while being pinned down due to his little brother. While his lil brother didn’t mean for that to happened that still doesn’t erase that trauma that, which his brother couldn’t forgive him for. Same for the butler I want them to truly have a heart to heart because I think they just pretend that what happened didn’t happened and became somewhat codependent on each other.
