YES omg I'm sure it's because most people don't bother changing the 5 star rating when they mark it as "reading/read" and it's usually the most popular Yaoi hence why they receive such a high rating.
For example "Painter of the Night", it had a 9.6(!!) rating and it's not even that good (the story got worse each week and is so messy.
I'd give it a 7 at best for the art.
Totally the same sometimes I just don’t bother myself to change the rating mostly after dropping a story n forgetting their existence! N yeah some popular stories like potn (even though the art is chef kiss) n pearl boy (tis one had a potential...), their plot aren’t that good n have very high ratings... n ofc when some ppl made their mind that a story is good bc of the rating n get influenced by it when I just say facts that the plots aren’t good they attack me like I’ve pest (￣へ￣）
I totally agree with you with everything else but I actually like the plot of potn ༎‿༎ especially now where the real character development has slowly begun :'( I like slow paced stories I'm sorry ༼;´༎ ༎༽
don´t mind it, it´s not mainstream, so you can´t expect too much.
"i tried finding more chapters, and ended up finding it on some porn site." idk why i lmao on this. :)) but on a serious note, isn't it kind of sad that a pretty good plot only got 8.5 while other shitty stories got 9+up rating? the ending was a bit rushed, but this story still definitely better than most yaoi. quality and popularity rarely match huh.
