Hmm... actually Stockholm Syndrome is a bit like love between a woman and her abusive husband, you can claim it isn't love but the victim doesn't see it that way. It is twisted and unhealthy and usually it is a victims way of defending themselves.
This is a Lima and Stockholm Syndrome, first the kidnapper shows sympathy for the hostage (Lima Syndrome), then the hostage shows sympathy for the kidnapper (Stockholm Syndrome), these two have the fear for the second kidnapper in common.
I do not understand such "love", like going back to your abusive husband. My sister had a boyfriend once who were a psycho, he abused her in private but were the "good" guy i public, my sister kept going back to him, I watch her cut herself in the arm. The worst part is you can't do anything because she "loves" him, you can just watch and wait for her to reach out, she finally did reach out, but she still seeks out guys who "needs" her, but at least she found someone who isn't abusive.
I might be wierd reading a manga like this, but I kinda like it, though i hate it.
Stockholm syndrome is not a form of love. Nor is it a mental illness. It's a coping mechanism that people often revert to in order to servive an extreme situation that has put them under harsh physical and mental stress due to an outside source or influence. It's not a chemical imbalance like depression or schizophrenia, it's more like a way to revert into yourself and tell yourself everything is okay (maybe like some cases of multiple personality). It's also not like being in a abusive relationship. Those usually start off as health relationships, not with someone abusing their significant other until they fall in "love".
I didn't mean to say that Stockholm Syndrom is the same as an abussive relationship, just that the victims in both cases have similar feelings towards the offender, and that they usually will disagree with outsiders view of the relationship. I only know of victims from abussive relationships that is why i brought that up as an example, but all i wanted to say is that we can claim as much as we want and even agree to that this isn't love, but the victims they don't see it the same way, and it can be hard to make them see.
But a very nice explaination of Stockholm Syndrome, thank you!
BITCH PLEASE, THIS IS STOCKHOLM SÍNDROME NOT LOVE(〜 ̄△ ̄)〜
