But that’s actually her shortcoming if she were to be considered a “breakthrough” protagonist of the plot (besides Athy) as Spoon(the artist of this manhwa) is diverging from the novel to develop her character. The way Jeanette is thinking/acting now, though valid as you’ve explained her kind of upbringing, are of no exceptional nor likable qualities and actions. Relatable, yes cuz no one is perfect but their situation behooves a wiser and more understanding response, Sometimes, sincere mistakes and shortcomings may be forgivable, but it doesn’t mean harmless.
^ plus you can’t really hate a villain who acts like a villain it means he’s portrayed his character well. but we’re supposed to believe that jeannette is supposed to be a good person meanwhile being dense and not thinking for herself or for others because she simply wants to be with athy and her dad. she didn’t even protest or question anything when her actual dad told her that he was her dad she just stood there all doe eyed and confused.
A very good point, i understand totally get where your coming from but remember she is a freaking child unlike all the cast here. Everyone knows that yet they don't get straight to tbe point with Jeannette. Can't Athy just say "youre father is an asshole and is being manipulative, i will take care of you, stay by my side" Jeannette is willing to do that for Athy if she asks yet Athy ignores her knowing that she is a vital person to the whole situation.

Because that's what her upbringing is! She was so used to being ordered around and the fact that White haired father literally stated to her do this and that and of course she trust him. He's the only parental figure she has and the one of the only person she can trust because she was literally with him every step of her life. She was taught to not question anything, to always follow instruction, to be an actual puppet of course she stood in there "all doe eyed and confused"
i understand that i’m not saying that her personality didn’t come from her upbringing. it’s just that throughout the series you’ll see times where she’ll question things in her head but immediately dismiss it because of her upbringing or because of what she was told. but that doesn’t mean she lacks rationale or a brain to not see when things are going wrong or not. she has full capabilities of witnessing it and thinking that “it’s wrong” yet she has made no progress as a character or as a person in this story to do something about it. it’s quite honestly frustrating when you see a character be all innocent and dense when shit is going down around them and they keep asking to themselves “what happened or what went wrong?”. ones upbringing can’t excuse a person from understanding things from what they experience first hand.
Athy does in chapter 93 but Jennette doesn't trust her and reject her. She basically tells Athy to fuck off and leave her alone so... Also Athy never ignored her, remember that even now they are allowed to be in the palace because Athy didn't snitch on them, worried that something might happen to Jennette

She’s acting like the “formula” fl in shoujos who is just passive and let misunderstandings happen....I want to like her, but she has yet to prove herself really

I totally agree with you to some extent. It's quite frustrating, i get that, i really hope for more development from her. Yet it's also frustrating to see your favourite character being dragged down to the depths of hell rather than the actual villian of the story.

I have also read ch93 in IG. She shuts Athy out when Athy took the ball yet again to approach her and reassure her... just because Athy didnt acknowledge her when she arrived
Korean raws are out up to chapter 93 (and I fortunately know enough Korean to read a bid) . I too was so hopeful to see the two of them cooperate to dethrone AnASStacious but apparently it will go differently since Jennette decided to not trust Athy at all. At this point its a her problem. I'm just so sad for Athy because she never has a break from suffering

well i understand how you feel but it’s been proven time and time again that some people find villains tolerable or even likeable because of how well they portray their evil side. whereas characters like jeannette are hated on and disliked a lot due to their lack of judgment and indecisiveness. it just depends one how you look at them.
Definitely, some spoiled the next chapters so im just out here hoping all the defense i gave to Jeannette would be worth it or not

Imagine, you being the most sheltered person in the whole country, the only social interaction you have is either to the white haired gang. Then you are suddenly exposed to social interaction in parties and there are actual people. You don't freaking know how to react to that.
