I get you, but the misunderstanding makes this story funny and a little entertaining. That's why i didn't bother :3
he's done like four nice things for her after 18 years of neglect, she's understandably interpreting that as him preparing to sell her off for marriage.
I’m pretty sure she’s misinterpreting everything that he has done for her. He wasn’t home all the time because he was at the castle, to protect her. I mean we see how horrible he is at expressing himself, so we can assume that he’s been the same before the start of the story too.
from her perspective, he glared at her every time they met, brushed her off, and missed every socially important even in her life.
I mean wouldn't you assume the worst after all the shit you were led to believe (even if it wasn't true). It's like when you have a horrible strict parent but sometimes they can be nice except those nice times make you feel uncomfy bc they're usually strict and mean. Like it feels fake and gross when they act nice i'd rather them not talk to me at all (lol just from my experience)
