I have a guess about about what was supposed to happen in the past. I think when she got locked up her father saw it as an opportunity (or maybe even planned out) to make the move on the king. I think fls father made it seem like fl was dead or gonna die bc i think the plan involved the prince and fls father made the prince visit fl so that it would seem like she got tortured to death since the prince is known for that. I also think that the prince was supposed to get her out of the cell.And that the dad giving fl the sword was to protect herself just in case it gets out that she isnt rlly dead. Idk if u guys will get it but i tried to explain it as best as i can ╮(￣▽￣)╭
