That was another Guy! He actually killed him, you can see it in the Picture where they show his Finger. And the uke has a mole under his eye, the writer not. :))
Because that wasn't the MC who went to the book signing (look a little more closely at their faces, they're different), that was just a random fan, the scene was meant to introduce us to the author and his charisma. The next scene opened up to the MC's sugar baby reading the author's novel. (The MC would almost never make a public appearance without presenting himself as blind.)

I was so confused. Got it now tho. So now I’m wondering if he thinks the guy is blind or not.
He def recognizes him and knows he’s not blind cuz didn’t he see him at the book signing and commented on how he’s a writer? But then does the uke not recognize the author???
