Same but..it's ,sadly, how many Asians were raised to believe that if they have double lids and pale skin they are beautiful. It's sad as many Asians ARE naturally darker so you would think acceptance of their natural beauty would be a normal and rational thing..
I'm from South East Asia and what you said is true, some East Asians really descriminate us about that which is very sad... But don't worry, in Philippines slot of people still embraced their natural skin color, winners in beauty pageants here are on the morena side.
I just hope readers won't be influenced with this toxic mindset.
I actually find it strange how they perceive being pale and double eyelids as beautiful but people such as us whites believe darker skin is far more beautiful and try and tan to look darker.
Me and my friends talked about this lot and honestly feel it's a "grass seems greener" deal like how girls with straight hair tend to curl their hair while girls with curly hair straighten theirs. It's sad that we can't just feel beautiful as we are but it's just how it is (￣∇￣")
Asians doesn't really want to be white like american or european looking but we want to have that pale glowing clear skin. In Asian history dark/tanned skin people are assumed to be working or have worked as farmers while those who have pale skin are perceived as part of the upper class because they do not need to go outside to do work.
That makes sense I've heard of that too.
Sorry, I didn't mean that Asians wanted to look like americans or Europeans but I just noted that double lid surgery seemed to be big in several countries I thought it was to make their eyes appear "bigger" (probably should have mentioned before mb). Obviously, I don't know much as I only have spoken about this mildly with my two friends (from the Philippines and Thailand)
No worries, it's probably just a misunderstanding, sorry aswell! And that's right most East Asians really go for that double eyelid surgery, luckily we South East asians do not need too, but most of us still want that white skinned tone, just like as you said...it's always greener on the other side hahah

Glad we cleared it up ^ ^ Well that's good I felt said for people who felt pressured to get such a surgery ( I've felt the same with my nose..it's said smaller noses are cuter and larger are ugly..but I've heard the pressure for surgery can be pretty bad in some parts of the world for different reasons)
Then there's us in the the u.s and several European countries trying to get tanned tones haha...yes sadly, seems like the grass will always seem greener somewhere else

I'm naturally a little darker than others but since I grew up in america without that many other asians around I never even thought about it
I don't like it when they keep saying "dark skinned" as ugly. I'm offended XD
