There are other ways to further a plot.

it’s just that it happens so often that it makes sense that that would be a plot point. that’s what happens when people get kidnapped. they get rapped and killed most times. it’s not to further the plot per say, it’s more just to make sense of a situation. it’s not like that added it for fun. that kind of thing happens when someone is kidnapped. to men as well. i mean i’m a woman lol so it’s not like i’m saying ahhh men get raped too, i’m just saying that the writer isn’t using rape as a tool, more like an event. idk how else to explain it but this is what would happen in real life anyway.

The “rape as peril” trope is just old, tired, and problematic imo. Especially in this story - it doesn’t fit with the overall tone. I obviously know rape happens in real life, but this is fiction. Fiction has to be cohesive. Though, opinions on fiction are always subjective so I’ll respect yours and you can respect mine :) (not meant to come off as passive aggressive)

i don’t disagree that it’s old and wrong. i just think that your thinking about it the wrong way. i think it makes sense in that situation. when the rape plot point is wrong is when someone gets rapped and end up with their abuser like killing stalking. that’s when it’s overused. idk how often you read actual books but rape is very common because it’s common in real life so of course it’s gonna be common in fiction too because it happens in the stories people are trying to tell ya know? i just don’t want people to be like yeah manga is bad because all of it is rape. so no. the stalkhome syndrome ones are bad, but just because there’s rape in a story doesn’t mean it’s a bad story or bad writing. that rape scene is perfectly placed and it’s sad that you can’t see so as well

I literally only asked for you to respect my opinion. Christ.
