i agree that it’s to make things go faster but i don’t think it has to do with romantic development. it’s more of grabbing the reader’s attention i guess? i feel like they always want to get started with the spicy stuff right away

exactly. i think it has to do with rape fantasies. sexual fantasies actually have nothing at all to do with what you want to happen in real life. they kinda just touch on the boundaries of the extreme.
Tbh, I think authors or mangakas (whatever) start with rape to make things work faster. So that it can develop to a romance without the character trying to deny their feelings, love conflicts etc. So they just start of carnal and develop into love.
