is it because Japan misunderstands that albinism (which usually entails extremem paleness, near white hair, and either red or blue-ish eyes) and having fair features (pale hair, pale eyes, pale skin) are the same when they are in fact not? I have light sensitivity (in my eyes) but I'm dark-skinned and have almost black eyes (super dark brown)
It’s so interesting in this day and age how it’s a legit belief, in Japan at least, that people with a light colored iris are weak to bright light. I’ve seen this regularly over the years
