If you look at ML he hated our mc first wanted to kill her even, but then he suddenly fell in love with her, started stalking, being possessive and lying to her face. While Mc and Dad are misunderstanding each other the ML is taking advantage of that because he knows the whole truth (ML knows the father daughter love each other and their misconceptions of each other)
