Not only is it not real but people need to understand these authors are from a different country and culture. Same thing when it comes to age in Yaoi, the age of consent in Japan as a whole is 13 years old. Some areas in Japan with local laws will raise it to be de-facto age of consent to 16-18, unless they are in a "sincere romantic relationship"
Also the legal age of adulthood in Japan is 20yrs old. And yes it is illegal for underage people to have sexual relationships with adults the fact is, THIS is just manga and not real.
If the authors never wrote about underage love stories then we would never have any stories that some people could relate to at a young age.

sexual assault can be categorized as rape but its a broad term of sexual misconduct. Which is kissing, touching, harassments without consent while rape is more specific of sex without consent.
Honestly they're the same thing, it's just because in the USA under our laws both are written differently so they are used in different aspects. Rape in America is written out as “the penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”
Where as sexual assault is written as “any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape.”
In most states this means that rape is a different charge to sexual assault and gives different consequences for each.
Honestly right now our laws really lack when it comes to proper punishment people who are convicted. In my opinion it's something that really needs to be looked at and changed to harsher consequences.
