( i __ i ) I dunno, they just hate us or something... or there's less magazines for yuri (??)
Excluding the yuri oriented towards men since those tend to be nasty and reproducing female objectification, maybe women are also just less open to reading about women loving women then men loving men... like the whole "I'm not gay so it'd be weird if I knew a lesbian" or whatever.
Yeah, you definitely have a good point. I agree with you when it comes to the objectification-oriented lesbian manga. Women would find it hard to enjoy yuri, because it doesn't really reflect lesbian relationships, and really good yuri is better written by authors with a good grasp of lesbian life. After all, yaoi is actually primarily consumed by straight girls because it's far more enjoyable to see two gorgeous hunks going at each other, and yuri for the sake of smut isn't that much fun, at least it isn't for me. I like my yuri to have humanity, not just girls going down on girls. What's your favorite yuri?
SAME! I'm glad we super agree on this. I think part of the problem is the fact that lesbian porn is already ~popular with straight men~ so if yuri ever did yaoi tropes (some have tried) it feels more like... typical gross hentai... for men... I'll pass.
My favorite yuri is Ohana Holoholo!! (It's not fully scanlated, and so I'll just lie here and hope that someday I become competent at Japanese...) What about you?
Well, we'll just have to take remedial classes together, then, because I can't quit the yaoi!!!
