Because even when they talked about grand sorcerer they showed a shadowed figure which kinda resembled Cecile
Plus when 3 guardians heard her named they immediately said that that princess cant beat her

I thought the grand sorceress was her mother at first. But it still does make sense if she is the grand sorceress herself. And if she is the grand sorceress, that means the sleep wasn't literal, but her powers were dormant or were put to sleep until she awakened them again.
And you can see that the maids and the guardians have the same hair XD, it's not meant to be hidden I guess.
