So Kasey quits working for his dick of a boss and goes out wandering like a vagabond on a backpacking trip, picking up jobs along the way to pay for room/board. He ends up stranded on a long, looong, road in the middle of a sweltering day as he walks to the nearest village off in the distance. Along comes Dave, who stopped by Kasey when he saw the man trying to hitchhike because he felt bad. Naturally, after stopping to tell this to Kasey, Dave drives off and leaves the man behind without a second thought.
Kasey makes it to the village and meets a pretty lady in a bar who employs him as physical labor. In a true romcom twist, the lady is none other than Dave's sister and Dave is now Kasey's co-worker. Halfway through the story and Dave is still a completely rude jerkass to Kasey for literally no reason and he's given a backstory that doesn't even count as a reason why--he's just always been a manner-less dick and the sis thought employing him would help.
Finally, Dave warms up to Kasey who has by this point disregarded everything bad about Dave and fallen for him. As Dave warms up to Kasey in the latter chapters, they go out to the "Grand Canyon" and it's implied Kasey kisses Dave. We don't get a kiss the whole story, just the implication. This sweetness is swiftly followed by the usual "does he even like me back" self-doubt and is wrapped up just as quickly. The 3 continue on together with Kasey and Dave as a couple. The end is bland but not bad.
All in all a fast read and for that I was grateful as I got fed up with Dave before they could kick in with the sweetness. Honestly I didn't like this read but that's due to my personal bias--I would still recommend it to anyone with 30minutes to spare. 4/10
