Ya, I don't read this for the ML to improve, I read this for the mom. If ML improves, oh well. If he doesn't, then this is going to get dark, which I also like to some extent. But you, and others in this text chain both have good points, but the story isn't necessarily about liking the ML, is it? It's about an MC and her kids, which is all I'm here for!

The problem with their approach is:

1. When she asked what he would do if a woman approached him claiming to be the one he slept with, she assumed he didn’t know that they had slept together.

2. Sure, the way he phrased that was scary, but he knew they’d slept together so he answered as someone who knew she wouldn’t step forward. Meaning anyone else doing that shxt would be lying to the emperor himself, therefore deserving of death.

Anyway, at this point we’re divided since we see the emperor in two different lights and it’s not likely to change until the FMC is back at the emperor’s castle with their kids or something (we all know that this is where this story’s headed). I personally never take the information that’s been given to me at face value. So far there’s a lot of talk about the emperor being this or that way and doing this or that, but I’ve yet to see the emperor’s evil with my own eyes. So until I do, I’m sticking to my guns.

Right. If he had said "look I know ur pregnant with my children. U should stop being a knight since its dangerous and safety have my kids in the palace" if she ran after that the chasing would make more sense. And I'd feel sorry for him. But no instead he still allows her to be a knight for fucks sakes she gets pushed down some stairs! Were where those shadow knights when that shit happened?!

Lmao, c’mon. “Allows her to be a knight”?! Women don’t have to stop working as soon as they get pregnant. That wasn’t even a worry of hers. Her stress was all about how he would react to that. I’m sorry, I didn’t follow al the back and forth between you and the person you replied to, but the way you phrased this entire thing makes it seem like she should just be a damsel in distress who lets the emperor take care of her. That’s not compatible with both their personalities at all.
