Isn't it likely to be the case? After all, this is a story about 'true love' and the ex is just a side character. The author wouldn't make one of the main characters love for the other to be based on such a shallow reason. If they did nobody would read the story. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I feel like he might have fallen for him because he resembles the ex. I hope I'm wrong tho
