Kinda like a prostitute but not all of them engage in sex. Some are like hosts were they talk and perform dances or songs or play musical instruments for noblemen or rich merchants.
They're like geisha i think. Entertainers for Nobles.
Oh yeah.. most of them are slaves who were bought at a young age and were trained in arts or were runaways or some sort or some are reformed prostitutes who don't wanna sell their bodies anymore but have no other means of employment. A kisaeng house is much safer from brothels cause of their high profile customers.
