I do understand where you’re coming from but also understand that shun was gay and the other guy (I forgot his name) wasn’t gay even tho he waited for shun, and the part where the other guy is really pressuring shun to go see his family when he didn’t want to was also annoying how instead of being understanding with shun he decided to leave him. It’s like just because he lost his family he wants shun to go to his own instead.
Shun told him he liked him just before his ex-fiancée came, Shun loved Mio before he left and then as Mio left he thought about it for 3 years whether he did like him or not and when he decided he came back, Shun rejected him not because he did not like him but because of what happened he was supposed to get married and at the wedding he said he loves boys and the family did not accept it, he wanted Mio to have a normal life because he loves him

but STILL him being unnecessarily mean towards mio HURTS him. is it really that he wants mio to have a "normal" life or is it him, himself that wants to have a "normal" life? so what he meant to say is, "i don't think this is right. you need to be with a girl and so do i." means that he wants to be with a girl right? it's not like him finding another guy to love will make the situation different. AND in the first place, he's the one that makes a promising future about them being together. now that mio is a capable adult, he rejected him? what about then when mio is a still a minor? he said he's INTERESTED in him and he'll wait for him etc. didn't he think of mio supposedly, have to lead a "normal, straight" life back then? why only did he think of that now that he's back, crushing his hopes? and not back then when he's first interested in him? on the side note, you said that he rejected him because of his called off wedding right? let me get this straight, that happened when he first came to the island (in fact, that's the reason he came to the island in the first place), when he first met with mio. so my question is why, did he reject mio, all while knowing he could've lead a so-called normal life, when he's the one making him getting his hopes up just to give the "find a gf, have a normal life" to mio IN THE FIRST PLACE???
ps* im not mad at you T﹏T im just too passionate about finding a way to understand and enjoy this story like others seem to be doing. pls see this as me debating my opinion with yours and not me hating and cursing this story blatantly. no no you’re very much right to feel this way because the story isn’t the best like there are better stories out there that deserve as much attention but even if your opinion is correct you can’t just be attacking shun because both ends are still in the wrong
Read the sequel. It is the actual charm of the series. Umibe was merely the struggles before the love began. The sequel "Harukaze No Etranger" is much more calmer, the relationship is balanced by both sides. Honestly the reason Shun was pushing Mio aside was rather because he knew Mio had the ability to fall for girls so he tried to push him for his sake. The sex scene is where he finally accepts both his and Mio's feelings.
And about the sequel, you can just read the latest chapter 20 as a preview to see what the tone of the sequel is going to be like (somewhat).
Again, I wouldn't be raving so much if this series wasn't that good. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Also I too felt like the prequel was lacking something when I first read it. It was the sequel that really made me fall in love with the franchise. It depicted what many BLs didn't (not gonna spoil).

ive read the manga and not watched the movie yet but, im really disappointed? i thought this would be a cute, wholesome, heartwarming story? i can't see any of those in the manga? i have no idea about how the movie depicted this story but I can't seem to know where this was going? i was reading this and i was ON EDGE the whole time and frustrated over EVERYTHING. this is purely my opinion and i think shun is kind of an asshole? he doesn't seem to be doing anything for their relationship? all he's ever done is rejecting mio? when in the first place, he's the one who's interested in mio? then he's denying and rejecting his feeling? when mio waited for years to be an adult so that he could with him? see how he's pushing mio but still wants him? to me, their relationship seems kinda one sided now. where mio is the only one trying so hard for the both of them. all whilst shun being ignorant and hurt him like??? tell me one time shun said i love you/i like you in the story. CUS I CAN'T FIND IT FFS. it looks so one-sided. I can't comprehend this AT ALL. where's the cute wholesome, heartwarming story I've been expecting.
