i just want to tell you that to my understanding, the mc is dark-skinned at birth so she was a ‘normal’ princess with dark skin before she was cursed to become a beast at 6yo, so i think the author didn’t mean to associate ‘beast’ with dark skin tone at all.. maybe it was a coincidence that the author wants mc with dark skin and the story being about beast and all
But i agree with you 100% we need more MCs with dark skin tone without the need to represent anything
But does it bother anyone else that the "beast" is the only character with darker skin, and just like in general with these kinds of stories. Why can't protags just have darker skin tones without it needing to represent being evil or cursed or whatever
I love me a caramel queen, and she's a good strong character, and hell, I even love beast characters, but I just can't help but be bothered
