Yeah it was for safety because that knife/sword was actually a relic that can protect her and the dad actually BEGGED the prince to save her but she misunderstood #－.－)
I'm more than positive that it was meant to protect herself while in the room. Maybe they were planning on rescuing her after? I mean Max was his displine. Plus the Duke has shown that he wants the throne for himself. So I think they might have been thinking of overthrowing the king at this time. But maybe I'm thinking too far into it?
In my interpretation he gave her the knife for her protection and prepared max to save her. Since he negleted the FL and failed to inform her about the rumours about the crown prince are false. FL thought he wanted her to suffer forever(she thinks he cares about his loyalty more than her).
Father....seriously, just 3, no, 2 Words would suffice "for protection". Lack of communication can really well..kill someone ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Can someone PLEASE give me na explanation why tf did her dad gave her a sword xd i suspect he locked in that particular room for her safety actually but was the sword to defend herself or wHaT. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧ It just bugs me honestly
