Yes it truly is sad, i teared up in this chapter. At first, I was conflicted since Harsen seemed to have actual feelings for Arcella but was hurt by her words of him being her "best choice" and that he just doesn't know how to approach her and all but after this chapter I immediately lost all reason to side with him. Because although Harsen has reasons to his actions, they dont and will never justify what he did, taking note that his actions influenced how other people treated her later on. She suffered so much and deserves so much better..
It saddens me that Arcella was brought to tears when the man instilled hope in her. How all of that was just the bare minimum and Harsen didn't even do any of that for her.
