I honestly feel like, even though there was a rape scene, it helped his character development. Even though it technically was unnecessary. It definitely made him think. I mean he basically was doing and treating yoru the same. Yoru might’ve been into it but any normal person would get trams from that treatment too. I think it made him think about what he was putting Yoru through in a sense and then There he was. Yoru to help him get over it because Yoru never had any bad intention he just straight up liked the dude.
Rape is bad in any way and is often unnecessary. But, I feel like it did actually help some character development. It was a short story so maybe if it was longer they could’ve gone deeper into the trauma and more into the process of getting rid of it.
