Maybe she’s being used by the emperor thats why she has all those cuts for wizards and stuff idk cuz i dont think the emperor or anyone would try and injure the princess and leave scars if she can be used for marriage for politics? Like its still cruel and abusive either way and i hope the emperor and the people that did that to the princess suffers
