its a really complicated story and i’ve forgotten alot of parts. But the fl is like one of the three people that got cursed by god or something, in one of her past lives. So whenever the 3 people get reincarnated, the curse makes them repeat the sin they did in the past. in fl’s case, she killed her child in that past life, i think it was because he was sick or something about mercy killing. so whenever she got reincarnated (before the one in the story) she killed her child even though she didnt want to. The reason the temple is involved is because the high priest is another one of the cursed ones. The high priest in his past life killed the woman he loved because he couldnt have her (not sure). and that woman was the fl in her past life, so aside from suppressing her mana, the pills also suppress her memories so she wouldnt look for the reincarnation of her child and repeat the cycle of killing. Remembering their curse triggers it. So who is the son? its abel, the duke’s son. So after finding out about the curse, the fl tells the duke to kill her so she cant harm abel. but the duke refuses and they look for ways to lift the curse. there’s probably some parts i missed but thats all i remember. the priest still tries to kill the fl too cause of the curse. the third person with the curse, tries to help the other two look for ways to break the curse, although his curse already happened (i think he kills his wife)

Maybe the dad is also taking the pills, what he thinks is that some ppl with light magic cannot handle it and will be in pain so he just take the pills and now he's daughter is the same so he have to give her the pills
Plus in order to get the pills, the church is making him do shady shit or maybe even make him owe them
The reason why the dad don't allow the daughter to be with THE MLST PRECIOUS ML EVER (pardon me) is that the shady shit have to do with him
