No, it’s not really just that. You need to understand that at the time, the ML was in a bad situation. He was in a poor and abusive household. And everybody in his class knew that he was poor. So when the FL did that and caused the misunderstanding, ppl automatically assumed that the ML was a thief. At this time, they were really young and being assumed something you’re not, it hurts. Especially since he was a child and the other children didn’t believe him at all. It embarrassed him. And sometimes people hold grudges, in this case, the ML held a grudge because he was humiliated and casted out as a thief and a liar when he was already in a bad position (since he was being abused and he grew up poor). Maybe not “hurt” but perhaps it left him traumatized as a child. And he carries that grudge to this day.

Ya its so weird he waited all those years and made her indebted to him for 1 million won simply bc of a misunderstanding (caused by her trying to HELP not harm) that was resolved. Ppl knew he didnt steal at the end and she just probably gave him like $5 for the picnic money and he rlly thought that would equal to a 1 million won debt i-
