I just thought the same thing the first time they said it is one of the options. Because if they choose the other it just makes things complicated
I think since the emperor put that mark on them they're kinda stuck on earth until they fulfill their mission (make babies), so like they still have their powers they just can't go back into the heavenly realm

This might sound harsh but why does he not just kill himself? He would be reunited with gold loong. They both could return to earth after having taken care of the problems in the heavenly realm. Also maybeee they could finally make a baby in the realm... ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
I know to say "he should kill himself" sounds really heartless but he wouldn’t actually die. Just his human form would.
He is basically killing his loong form right now with that contract or whatever.
