I wouldn't like Valtan as much if he were a girl.

why

my guess is that it would make valtan boring as a character. we've all seen the "love interest that gives up everything in the name of love" kind of tropes, but being born male gives his character way more complexity since even if valtan's love is still simple, the dynamic between him and mc is not.
