Check the chapter 66-67 again, in his inner monologue he says that;
he wanted to see him again but as Kister and not Kister the Slaughterer.
Since he never was Kisher the Slaughterer he just acted like that but at the end he realized
“an actor who finished his play should disappear behind the curtains” so he’s basically saying that Jonathan doesn’t need to meet the real him. He “acted” his part and that he should just disappear.
