I also thought the letters were returned without him opening them. Because it seemed liked she always made an effort to interact with him throughout their engagement but he brushed her off. So it would be out of character for her to keep her letters to herself instead of sending them to him
I think she never sent them, probably because she didn't want to 'burden' him with her feelings (I saw a spoiler along these lines somewhere else)
My hearts hurts for him but it hurts more for Neveah. I mean, were those her letters for Valer while he was at war but got returned bc he didn't bother receiving it? I dont wanna assume but it seems it got returned to her. That hurts more rather than tears of an asshole.(〜￣△￣)〜
