Yeah I think that theory is close, cuz if I remember some things I read and things from the start of the chapter, like her dad realize pd(in the first timeline) he fucked up and that (spoiler) cosette or whatever is a demon/devil whose here to ruin the kingdom and so that’s why he(the dad) goes back with the wizard/mage whatever to fix things which leads to that theory.

Ok I knew the crosette spoiler that in fact the real crosette is already dead and that person is a demon using her body... but I'm just really shock on how the theory that I came up with was actually right... I suddenly feel smart Lol HAHHAHAHAHHA
I actually have a theory about all this... so the theory is
I feel like her father was one of the person who came back to the past... remember they said thier was a 3rd person? But they can't remember who? Her father in some of the 1st chapters had some constant memories/dream of the future... and it actually would make sense why kiera was also choosen to be the 3rd person to go back to the past even tho the she was never acquainted with the mage... especially by the fact stand that they say the "other person" chooses who's memories get restored/stay/preserved... which kiera responded as "Are you ok? Cuz I don't remember using such a spell." ... so his father could have choosen kiera to preserve her memories and him to forget...
