A tamer like this is actually very useful because not only is he able to find things like people or herbs easily. The animals are very useful if you get lost (like you could see in the scene with the dogs), as fighting companions, carry heavy things or to travel faster and these are just some simple things that I just wrote down. There are actually even more things animals could be useful for (and I'm not talking about ways that would harm the animal). So~ A beast tamer is actually very very useful. (Sorry if I wrote something wrong)
