Depends on what you think a happy ending is but personally I didnt like the ending all that much but overall the story was great

Not really. I'd say, the only one who was even capable of having genuine and lasting romantic feelings for anyone in that series, was Oliver. Alex is more obsessed with people (and kills them before they have the chance to leave him) and Clark CLEARLY has serious mental issues as well (killing animals as a child, not able to mentain stable relationships of any kind, his own obsession with Alex's murders), even if he himself never killed anyone before this whole mess started.
