The brother really is useless, tho. He saw no problem in moving his GF closer, when FL asked him, so he can take care of his father and GF, amd since FL can easily visit, it means he could have as well. So, there was absolutely 0 reasons to abandon his family, and put them (and himself) in mortal danger. If not for his braindead actions, his sister wouldn't be involved with the prince and Letio, and his whole family wouldn't be one wrong move away from execution. Him going for the measurements is the bare minimum he must do. And even that he couldn't do without nearly letting the cat out of the bag. We still don't know, what consequences his meeting with the prince will cause.
