I’ve looked at all the comments and have come to my own opinion. I agree that the way the fl objectifies these men is not only dehumanizing and immoral but also the fact that most readers here consider this to be feminist? Why?!
As this only has one chapter I can’t judge the fl’s motivations so much and the author’s too. Which is why I will take the open minded approach instead. I developed a theory that perhaps it’s the author’s intention to make the fl , well bland -no villain is a better word- until she gets a character development and has a change of heart.
What I’m most curious about is the fl’s past, and why that led to her decision in this whole collecting men for her jewelry box idea? Was she abused by men and decided to take her power back by...well you know?
Ofc I could be wrong and am reading a little too much into this.Hopefully, it’s deep though otherwise it’d be pointless. I don’t know what are your takes on this?
P.S :This is meant to one of the commenters (Calling bipoc characters “chocolate” is a form of fetishism, so please refrain from using foods to describe a poc’s complexion from now on.)
Double P.S: Meant to a different commenter (So your definition of real men are those who are consumed by their toxic masculinity and feminist men just don’t exist? Yea no, I don’t know where you came to that conclusion. But buddy you could learn so much if you weren’t so afraid of the feminine energy that you cut out of you a long time ago. Having a dominance in yang in you doesn’t make you any more of a man than those who have a dominance in yin. You want to start mansplaining about mens’ rights? Sir learn the definition of gatekeeping bc that’s what you’re doing. Then once you do that, you can enlighten me on the oppression of mens’ rights. We’ll compare how history and not just today has impacted both the female and male negatively. How certain pieces of literature gave a misogynistic view on women compared to men.)
Sorry about the long rant I just felt things needed to be said as there are young readers on here, which I’m not gonna bother ask why they would but hey knowledge is a good thing.
Ty for mentioning how weird it is to use food as a way describe a poc’s complexion. Ik some pocs don’t mind but overall most of us find it very weird. HeadEmpty
Ofc you’re very welcome! As a poc myself I felt this needed to be addressed so that others know this shouldn’t be normalized.
