Is saying I like you that big a deal?? I love you is big but, I like you? I mean come on

For most people it's hard to say I love you or I like you. Especially in Asian countries where we're more conservative and stuff we normally don't say I love you cause we're not used to it even by our parents so in a way it is a big deal for most people.
