great but

it was a great story but I feel like there's a massive plot hole? he was by himself so was he supposed to chase after the criminal when there was someone literally bleeding out in front of him? no. he would have had to stay, put pressure on the wound etc.

so the whole "he let the criminal away" and got abuse from co-workers just isn't feasible

i totally agree! that part had me staring in confusion cause wouldn’t that have made it worse if he left and the civilian died? and on top of that, isn’t the police force supposed to focus on the safety of others? that was his whole plot too, protecting civilians bahhh... i’d probably bully his coworkers LOL

no he was trying to stop the old guy initially through talking to him, and another person got involved when he was about to get stabbed, resulting in the third party who involved themselves getting stabbed in his place instead, and the stabber ran off as he was looking after the person who got stabbed.

I prefer to overlook the plot hole by thinking that he had the opportunity and time to arrest the old man but was petrified, and so a civilian was stabbed by protecting him, a detective. So from a police perspective, both the escape of the criminal and the civilian's injury were his fault entirely. He did not do anything wrong, he just didn't do things right and showed incompetence, prolonging a dangerous situation and worsening it. That's why he was only suspended and not fired, but was still rejected by his fellow detectives.
