I'm a girl too, you smart one ^^ though I'm usually not a crybaby. But it's really irritating that they (the authors of cheap bl works) tend to make the bottoms in their stories cry here and there before people without restraint. While the top characters, naturally, don't cry at all, no matter what happens to them.
So, basically, it is somewhat easier for guys to restrain their tears - due to biology or upbringing or both. But, because those bottoms take the "female" role in sex, and it is common and accepted for females to use tears to appear cute and appelling, the authors happily make their bottoms cry here and there nonstop. Even if the bottom's setting is supposed to be that of a touth one, he still won't escape. Oh, there is also this shit with "oh no, wait-wait, stop-stop" - when they are getting harrassed by their tops, while happily wagging their buttholes towards the tops' cocks. How cheap these games are?
And the bl genre is supposed to be a way for women to emagine relashionships without those biased sexistic boundaries. But those authors (the silly and talantless ones, like this one) put their readers only deaper into those boundaries... What a disgrace.
Really soo young tears are mostly due to too much of pleasure. Apart from that, this is the first time he actually cried. Because he got stabbed and it is painful. Not all bottoms cry in BL.... Painter of the night bottom is the only frequent one that I know cry for everything. Which is just how he is.....
While I can see where you're coming from (i.e. BL authors overusing the feminine gay guy stereotype), I think your comment has a lot of internalized mysogamy and gender stereotypes in it and it is definitely worth rereading and unpacking. Also, BL should be about depicting healthy gay relationships in order to normalizes them, NOT for women to fetishize these relationships. There are tons of issues with the BL genre, even this manga in particular. A lot of it centers around how the gay community is being portrayed to have shitty relationships (thus reinforcing the homophobic belief that these relationships are unnatural) as well as turning gay relationships into a fetish - making one character masculine and one feminine is a common trope done for this. Anyway I could write a book about this but I'm sure there are others who have analyzed the genre in detail much better than I ever could.
I read about yaoi and it's history. And yep, it's made by women for women and has very little to do with actual gays :) at least as a whole. In Asia women still have very little of freedom of behaving and expressing themselves, and that is compared to european and american women. But even european and american women still have these boundaries compared to men, though they are far from being as strict...
Of course, it would look more logical to assume that yaoi is about gays but it is not XD gays also have those biases... Like if you're gay you are supposed to behave more like a girl and a girl is supposed to be this and that... Thus they assume behavior that not necessarily their true self... Clothes, speech, mannerism...
Why is the bottom always crying for no reason like a little girl? Though he is supposed to be a tough boxer who's seen life... So ridiculous
