I dont mean this in a rude way but if you're translating something you have to translate everything including slurs although im only using my experience from captioning but I dont imagine translating is all that much diffrent.

But the way you handled someone not knowing about the r slur was incredibly rude. Calling that person a failed abortion went a little to far, I do not agree with that person but i feel as though you should explain it before callimg people Nazi, crackers, and a failed abortion.

Um sorry not native English speaker but why does him saying that word to him is offensive? I myself have hearing and talking disabilities but I don’t see the point?

The words itself isn’t harmful, it’s the people who use it in a harmful way.
This word was used for slow learning or people who were incapable of doing norm things in their daily life right?

So why is it even just saying the word to your friend jokingly, is offensive to people with disabilities?
I myself use a similar word in my language, jokingly among my friends, they say it I say it. No one gets hurt cause I know they don’t mean it in a harmful way.

This, right here. Words are words, you can find offense in them or not but banning words is just a little too much. If you don't like the word don't say it, if you take offense to the word then don't pay attention to the person who said/typed it. If we start banning words because people take offense to it then there will be many banned words since people seem to be a lot more sensitive. (Not specifically directed at you, Katokabi)

Every word has history, if you look at it that way even the word “girl” is offensive.
“You hit like a girl” “you act like a girl”
5 years ago people in my country were afraid to use it more, since some girls started get offended.
They started to say “don’t say girl say woman”
Later on they realized that wasn’t it
Instead of that, now people are using it in a positive light and the word is much more positive.
I can’t know about the n word since my country didn’t go through that kind of history. And there seems to be many racist stuff still going on over there.
What I mean is for example, they use it the n word in a song and when a white people sings it, they get offended. Why? Some people get “cancelled” and bullied in the internet because of this kind of stuff. They were just singing, why is it still offensive?

Believe me I understand why you’re getting mad at people using those words. I’m living in a country where majority of people are muslim including my parents.
I’m a pansexual person, mostly interested in same gender, I use hearing aids and it takes time for people to get used to my way of speech. I’m not exactly a Muslim either, still trying to learn more.
So I get judged more than enough.

Yet none of the things I lived makes me think like you.
If someone I don’t know called me fag or retarded (and they do) I do get mad cause they said it to hurt me, I defend myself.
But when my friend calls me I laugh, they didn’t said that to hurt me. It’s that simple.

Some of my friends I met through gatherings and schools have similar disabilities. Our group chat is named “the grandparent squad” cause none of us can’t hear and talk well/or at all.
And funny enough we didn’t thought about that name ourselves.
Someone said that to us in a offensive way, we thought “hey we should use that as our name”

If you give power to these words you’re giving power to those people.

You’re mad? Then wouldn’t you prefer them to be annoyed as well? be respectful and kind. Since they’re so hateful, it would be more effective to use to opposite way of talk. Heck they might even change their opinions.
