Pretty Privilege on Toxic Male Leads

Some authors are really making toxic male leads with half-assed redemption arcs. If the male lead is not going to cry blood, grovel on the ground, and not on a brink of death? I don't want it. Bye Felicia.

Never have I heard such disparaging truth.
    Yes, I concur.
There just seems to be a lot of male lead who are pardoned because they're of the royal family, has a lot of influence, or someone powerful.
Most FML do the work of altering the events, and it's utterly frustrating that they just allow the ML to trample over their suffering by forgiving them right away.

Thissssss omg a sad backstory is not enough to excuse all the horrible things you do to other people and forgiveness needs to be earned. Why is it all sunshine and roses after he finally admits his feelings and becomes slightly less shitty, make him work for it first!!!

Also pretty privilege is very much a thing. Seeing character fandoms on here makes me realize why even certain serial killers irl have cult like fans.
